CSIDM’s Speech Recognition Research Team was at the InnovFest 2013

CSIDM’s Speech Recognition Research Team was on-site to demonstrate SimuTalk (紫冬口译)at the InnovFest 2013, organized by the National University of Singapore. SimuTalk is a patented Chinese-English Speech Recognition tool which is researched and developed by CASIA under the supervision of Professor Xu Bo, who is also the Co-Director of CSIDM.

A beta version of SimuTalk is currently available as a free app on both the iOS and Android platforms. Both iPhone as well as Android phone users can download the apps for free to try out.

The speech recognition technologies behind SimuTalk could serve as a useful plug-in or tool for companies who would like to bridge the communication challenges faced by Chinese users who would like to communicate with other non-Chinese speaking person in different situations – be it in the area of hospitality, travel and tourism, online gaming chat, etc. Likewise, non-Chinese speaking persons can make use of SimuTalk to communicate with Chinese users when in China or develop relevant products targeting at the Chinese mark
