Located on the NUS Kent Ridge Campus, Smart Systems Institute (SSI) is home to three International Research Centres – Keio-NUS CUTE (Connective Ubiquitous Technology for Embodiments) Center; NUS-Tsinghua Extreme Search Centre (NExT++); and Sensor-enhanced Social Media (SeSaMe) Centre which is a collaboration between NUS and Zhejiang University of China. The institute also comprises three research laboratories – Social Robotics Lab, Arts and Creativity Lab and Ambient Intelligence Lab where extensive sensor research and deployment as well as test-bedding activities are conducted.
SSI will demonstrate leadership in the entire research to market life cycle. It will conduct high end smart systems research and follow through to translating the research output into market. SSI excels in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, Internet-Of-Things (IOT), industrial design, big data analytics and media technologies such as computer vision and natural language processing. SSI will strive to discover and solve impactful problems to contribute as an integral part of the nation’s smart nation R&D landscape. It will continue to encourage spin-offs and also work with industry in health care, wellness, education, security and other government initiatives.
The NUS Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Commercialization Centre (NUSAIICC) is a joint establishment between NUS and Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee (SIPAC) to promote the innovation, application and commercialization of AI.
