Located on the NUS Kent Ridge Campus, Smart Systems Institute (SSI) is home to four International Research Centers – NUS Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Commercialization Center (NUSSZAI);NUS-Tsinghua Extreme Search Center (NExT++); and Connective Ubiquitous Technology for Embodiments Center (Keio-NUS CUTE Center); NUS Center for Research in Privacy Technologies (N-CRiPT). The institute also comprises three research laboratories – Social Robotics Lab, Arts and Creativity Lab and Ambient Intelligence Lab where extensive sensor research and deployment as well as test-bedding activities are conducted.
SSI will demonstrate leadership in the entire research to the market life cycle. It will conduct high-end smart systems research and follow through to translating the research output into the market. SSI excels in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, Internet-Of-Things (IOT), industrial design, big data analytics and media technologies such as computer vision and natural language processing. SSI will strive to discover and solve impactful problems to contribute as an integral part of the nation’s smart nation R&D landscape. It will continue to encourage spin-offs and also work with industry in health care, wellness, education, security and other government initiatives.
The Smart Systems Institute of National University of Singapore (NUS SSI) and Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee (SIPAC) have jointly established the NUS Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Commercialisation Centre (NUSSZAI) to promote the scientific and technological innovation, application and commercialization of artificial intelligence (AI). The NUSSZAI is sited within the NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute (NUSRI) in Suzhou, China and is operational from January 2018.
